About this deal

I like it. One thing: others have described this as being "beast mode" and terribly strong, etc. I just got this the other day, and that hasn't been my experience at all.

I almost want to give this a thumbs up. I like the style from this time, 1980, but I get an air freshener smell that makes it a neutral for me.One Man Show by Jacques Bogart is a fragrance that resonates with a confident masculine appeal. The initial scent is a bold combination of fresh, tangy grapefruit and aromatic basil, punctuated by the sharp, citrusy tones of Italian bergamot. This is gently balanced with the soothing, floral notes of ylang-ylang, jasmine, and rose, with a dash of Brazilian rosewood adding complexity. One Man Show by Jacques Bogart is a Chypre fragrance for men. One Man Show was launched in 1980. The nose behind this fragrance is Roger Pellegrino. Just one spray guys and you're good to go for the entire day. Thats how potent this fragrance is. No pun intended. Middle notes are Pine Tree Needles, Carnation, Nutmeg, Patchouli, Spices, Vetiver, Geranium, Labdanum, Rose and Jasmine; One Man Show by Jacques Bogart (1980) must be one of the most audacious names for a masculine fragrance I have ever seen, to the point of initially staying away from it when I first saw the stuff in mall perfume kiosks. I assumed it sold to that narcissistic set of guys that believe in the "Three F's" and no, I won't spell out what they are, but when it and it's house of Jacques Bogart kept coming up in recommendations from fellow basenotes users, I decided to let my gaurd down to try it. Unsurprisingly, this is a loud "typical 80's" aromatic chypre of the "powerhouse" sub-genre, but unlike it's name, isn't quite so brash to actually wear. Those who have worn the previous Bogart by Jacques Bogart (1975) will instantly understand this as a progression on that theme. Perfumer Roger Pellegrino took the biker-meets-boardroom appeal of that debut masculine and cut away all safety restraints, bolstering the top notes and cutting out the leather. I'm not saying this is a flanker, but just a continuation of a dry, aromatic theme in a more boisterous and noticeable direction. In some ways this is a less-floral macho man take on Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme (1978), and in others, a prototype for Chanel Antaeus (1981).

The whole performance right from the start till the end is a classic journey so if you're not into classic fragrances in general ... stay away!Base notes are Oakmoss, Leather, Cedar, Styrax, Sandalwood, Amber, Tonka Bean, Coconut, Vanilla and Castoreum. This fragrance opens up with a fresh, lemony, herbal, green and peppery aroma that smells kind of like "7Up" and "Sprite" but more intense! bergamot gives the opening a beautiful masculine old school fresh vibe while pine needle and basil giving it bitter green and bright woody aspect and finally lots of patchouli creating a strong peppery aura around all mentioned notes. Projection is really good and solid and longevity can easily reach 8 hours and more so don't worry about them.

The top note literally exploded before us: freshness, energy, spice. Very hands-on, loud. Very 80's, even though we were in the 90's.

Review of One Man Show

To use it properly without annoying anybody and also yourself the weather must be at least cool so except summer you can wear it easily in all remaining seasons. Macassar is a niche version of Bogart OMS. OMS is sharper and bitter. Galbanum in OMS is the culprit. Macassar is mellower, I guess they replaced galbanum with artemisia but I do smell some galbanum in Macassar. Overall, this one projects serious business. Dry, masculine and in charge at all times! If you are all about wearing frags that do not sit on the fence, One Man Show timelessly fits the bill 100%.

Bogart's One Man Show has a reputation preceding it, of its hyper masculine demeanour, and being able to clear rooms on account of its strength. While all of this is rather exaggerated, there is indeed an element of truth. I find One Man Show to be dry, sharp and even aggressive at times. It opens with a sharp accord of citrus, basil and galbanum; very soon the leathery attribute announces its presence, and this feature is similar to leathers such as Versace L'Homme and Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme. There's an astringency in One Man Show, and this persists throughout the mid phase where the herbal elements persist, there is an added note of incense, and any floral element is barely discernible. In the base I register some mossy woods and labdanum. Duration is excellent and sillage is good based on a moderate application. But in the time of our love, you were my only show. My wonderful, honest, generous, energetic, sunny Russian "One Man Show".The heart consisted of wood notes, classically male in connotation, not surprising, but extremely sympathetic, without fuss, without disturbing accessories. "Do you wear this a lot?" I wanted to know. "No, only on special occasions. I didn't take him to Germany. That's why you don't know him. My father also sprays himself with it sometimes and we only have one bottle to share." The base of the fragrance is almost the same as mid and it's a semi sweet, warm and kind of bitter green, woody and floral scent the overall smells really nice. OMG, is this a gorgeous perfume! Saw it online for practically nothing and bought it for hubby to try. It manages to have the notes I love in women's perfumes while being thoroughly male, thanks to galbanum, frankincense and the woods. Will add more details later as I study the drydown but, trust me. Buy it, guys. You'll never be sorry. It's the kind of fragrance that, in my younger days, would have riveted my attention long enough to find out who was wearing it. One Man Show follows the note pyramid to a tee, opening up with with a dry blast of Bergamot, Basil, and Galbanum...transitioning briefly to layer on Rose and Jasmine before closing with Sandalwood, Castoreum, and Cedar. The 85% vintage was never synthetic at all to my nose.
