About this deal

In contrast, the GTS 10 XC offers a unique sliding table mechanism, as well as a solid miter gauge. The gauge has an extra metal support bar and positive stops to remember specific angles. The sliding table runs over two linear guides and helps with crosscutting. Sliding table in action While the 10 XC supports up to 254mm (10″) blades, the 635-216 can only do maximum 216mm blades. This also explains the 216 in the name of the saw. The particularly stable rip fence made of die-cast aluminium ensures high precision: It is attached to the front and rear of the table saw with a double clamp and thus sits reliably with every cut. Likewise, if the miter gauge has some play (meaning it can move laterally in the miter slot), you can never rely on crosscuts being exactly 90 degrees. And if the table isn’t flat, or the body is deformed in some other way, it will be difficult to make repetitive accurate cuts as well. Fences compared

But it is also more than twice as expensive. This makes the GTS 635-216 very good value for money. It may not be as well built, or have as unique features at the 10 XC, it can cut almost the same height and rip the same width. With some attention, you can achieve the same results on the 635-216 as on the 10 XC, but for less than half the money. To find out exactly how they all differ in a meaningful way, I’ll compare them along three categories: Accuracy, size and power, and build quality. Accuracy Something similar is going on with the size of the two saws. The GTS 10 XC is clearly bigger, with a table of 584 x 759 millimeter, compared to the 500 x 658 millimeter of the 635-216. Works extremely precisely and is exceptionally versatile due to integrated slide carriage, table-widener, and table extension

Bosch GTS 635-216 1600W 216mm Table Saw 240v

The GTS 635-216 Professional’s high cutting width is achieved as its rip fence is extended beyond the edge of the saw table and serving as a support. This allows panels of up to 635 millimetres to be cut to size. I have to agree with the noise issue, it’s definitely the main reason why I don’t use it as much as I wanted to. Having my shop in the basement of my apartment building means I can’t bother people too much. And this saw is anything but quiet. Wish I waited longer and saved more money so I could buy a saw with an induction motor. This one’s super loud. Way too much for a modern saw, imho. So, given the larger and heavier table, your workpiece will be better supported on the 10 XC. But if you really want to, you can make the same large cuts on the small 635-216 as you can on its larger brother. 635mm is large enough to cut a standard sized plywood sheet in half on the short side. Power

Conclusion: All in all, the DWE7485 has by far the best fence system that will always be accurate and can be adjusted finely. The Metabo has a good fence as well, while the Bosch’s fence has some limitations out of the box. Maybe future versions will get a fix for this. Miter Gauge and Slot compared With a saw blade diameter of 216 millimetres, it is the best in its class. This is based on the special design of the new table saw: The arrangement of motor and gearbox has been optimised so that the saw blade protrudes further than with conventional table saws ‒ and thus achieves more cutting height with a smaller blade. Conclusion: Although the 635-216 is smaller than the 10 XC, it comes surprisingly close in terms of rip capacity and cutting height. The 10 XC will still support your workpiece better, and provide a bit more power. Miter Gauge vs Sliding Table Miter gauge on the 635-216 Let’s talk about price first. The TS 254 M and 635-216 are direct competitors with both costing about €325 currently. This means they can be compared purely on quality. The TS 254 M actually comes with such a support bar included, made of the same material as the table top. It is sloped so you can use it for angled cuts as well. Another thing it has over the other two saws is that it can be adjusted for play. There are two screws or bolts that you can turn to make it slightly wider or narrower. This makes it fit exactly in the miter slot, eliminating any sideways movement.Pracovní stůl je pevný a rovný. Pro řezání velkoplošných materiálů je samozřejmě potřeba pilu umístit do nějakého na míru vyrobeného stolu, ale to není žádný problém. Bonus: Another bonus for the Metabo is that you can even upgrade it with a sliding table, making the miter gauge even better. The sliding table is really accurate, and comes with a larger support bar to make it easier to cut large pieces. The accuracy of a table saw depends on three main factors: the fence, miter gauge, and the general flatness/dimensions of the body. If the fence isn’t straight, or moves out of parallel with the saw blade, you’ll never make accurate rip cuts.

The most obvious difference between the two is that the 635-216 is smaller. It has a smaller body and smaller blade. Saw Blades and Cutting Height The Bosch GTS 635-216 is the newest table saw by Bosch, and the entry-level machine in their blue‘Professional’ lineup. It is lighter and cheaper than the more powerful Bosch GTS 10 XC and it seems to replace the old green Bosch PTS 10 T, which is no longer available. Why it is called the 635-216 The GTS 635-216 Professional is the compact, yet powerful, table saw for multi-purpose use. Its 1,600 W motor power is ideal for a cutting height up to 70 mm and for a rip capacity up to 635 mm. The low weight of only 22 kg, its ergonomic handles, and protective on-board storage make transport genuinely easy and safe. The table saw works extremely precisely and, due to its integrated slide carriage, table-widener, and table extension, it is exceptionally versatile. Equipment & Application The DWE7485 on the other hand is just under €500 (but cheaper in the US), quite a step up from the other two saws. This means it will have to have some serious improvements over the other two saws to be good value for money. However, the rip capacity is actually the same on both saws! Both the GTS 10 XC and 635-216 have a rip capacity of 635mm. This rip capacity also explains the other part of the name (635). The GTS 10 XC is significantly heavier at 35kg, compared to 22kg of the 635-216.Total Tools reserve the right to change or withdraw free delivery at any time. Estimated Delivery Timeframes

The miter gauges on these three saws are similar. They are all quite basic, and have no stops that can be set to ‘remember’ specific angles. This means every time you change the angle, you’ll need to re-measure to make sure it is accurate.

This means the Bosch and DeWalt are capable of cutting standard sized plywood sheets in half, which is not possible on the Metabo. Given the DeWalt’s premium price, you’d expect it to have a better internal build quality too, but it’s hard to tell if that is really the case. It is a clear improvement over the old PTS 10, which was limited by its build quality. It is therefore no surprise that the GTS 635-216 is now one of the most popular table saws on the market in Europe. Where the GTS 10 XC does have a clear advantage, however, is in terms of power. Its 2100 Watt motor will help with cutting tough hardwoods like oak and maple. Especially when you get close to the maximum cutting height, the extra 500 Watt compared to the 635-216 (1600W) can be really helpful. The sliding table does cost about €100, but even then the TS 254 M comes in cheaper than the DWE7485.
