This is essentially a kit designed for cloud chasers. There is no temperature control which vapers are moving away from as a trend, but what you do have is adjustable wattage and bypass mode to find the right setting for you. This time I’m going to be taking a look at the R-Kiss 2 kit from Smok, a powerful traditional style 200w box mod that has been paired with the TFV18 mini tank. The workface of the device has a large 1.3in TFT colour screen and includes all the info you would normally expect to see; the fonts are easily large enough to be read at a glance! Some of Smoks product list include Fortis Kit, Arcfox Kit, Morph 2, Nord 50W Kit, Thallo S and the original R-Kiss Kit. In this review I will be using the pre-installed V18 Mini Mesh 0.33Ω coil to start with then swapping it out for the V18 Mini Dual Mesh 0.15Ω coil within the TFV18 Mini, as a liquid I will use be using “KwikVape Lime Slushie”. I was in for a welcome surprise when I opened the TPD edition box; a spare glass! Recent Smok TPD kits have often missed this which I found annoying, not only do we have to suffer 2ml but we get less in the kit too, so the spare glass restored my faith.Better still,it’s a proper glass unrestricted one, I don’t know the capacity but it’s more than the double walled preinstalled one – shhhhh let’s hope nobody notices! For extras Smok have included an extra 6.5ml bubble glass, V18 mini dual mesh 0.15Ω coil, a baggy of O Rings and a type C charge cable. The TFV Mini V2 (TFV8 Baby V2) tank is crafted from Stainless Steel and can utilise the high power output of the R-Kiss 2 mod. Filing and refilling the tank is easier and safer thanks to a childproof top filling mechanism. There’s an adjustable triple airflow built into the bottom of the tank, which allows you a greater degree of control to deliver either a tighter or looser inhale. When it comes to e-liquid, we recommend a 70% VG or higher VG e-liquid. I was more than a little put off when testing the kit in bypass mode due to the sheer power pushed through the coils! Underneath the screen, you have left and right buttons to adjust settings such as the wattage with the type-c USB port below that. At the bottom, you have the battery door which allows access to place your dual 18650s (sold separately). This is firm and holds the batteries in place well. If you seek a single 18650 battery mod, the Innokin 217 Z Force is a useful alternative that also accepts 21700s or 20700s.What stands out with this mod is the large 1.3 inch TFT display on the front of the Smok R-Kiss 2. Even for someone that doesn’t have the clearest vision, it’s bold, big and colourful, so easier to read. It’s got a cool fire button bar on the side which is easy to press on the go too, which adds to the overall experience. This delivery option is not available for customers in Guernsey, Jersey, Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands or Aberdeenshire. International I got this device to replace my smok alien. It’s not quite as powerful as the alien but it does the job. Great flavour delivery. Makes decent clouds(if you into that). The mod feels very light without batteries, but is solid and grippy.It weighs 116g.The tank weighs 65g and the kit with batteries weighs in at 275g which is reasonable for a dual battery kit. The mod looks and functions great if you’re after a lot of vapour and a hot vape the R-Kiss 2 can handle the power.
Over the years I have gained a good amount of experience with different types of vaping hardware but I'm just a normal guy who enjoys sharing my experiences. However, when you adjust the wattage to a lower setting below the recommended on the coil (the great thing about these Smok coils that go with the tank is the different choices), the lower wattage significantly reduces the flavour.Love or hate the battery door it is what it is – a slide out flip up door, while at present the door has no wiggle to it, in my experience this type of door can get loose from use! The single and dual mesh coils for this particular tank have been around for a while and we know what to expect - plenty of vapour and some decent flavour. What’s great about the mesh coils with this V2 Mini Tank is the flexibility you have depending on whether you prefer more cloud or flavour. For even more vapour production, vape at a higher wattage using theSmok single mesh coil. Although this reduces the intense flavour you would expect from your e-liquid, it makes up for it with voluminous clouds of vapour. Alternatively, opt for the dual mesh which can enhance the flavour based on the larger surface area or even triple mesh. However, bear in mind this will reduce the cloud production based on needing to pull more e-liquid at a higher wattage, burning your coils faster. I won’t be going into great detail with the TFV18 mini as I have already covered it within my Smok Fortis review, I will say however the tank has tri airflow and comes with a sleeve mouth piece it breaks down to 5 parts including the coil for easy cleaning! While I consider the TFV range of tanks very thirsty, with the 6.5ml bubble glass that thirst isn’t quite as noticeable – in other words I’m not filling it up every 5 minutes lol. The R-Kiss 2 has a host of safety features including 8 sec cut off, short circuit and over discharge protection. Smok R-Kiss 2 Kit in use I’ve got to say when I first opened the kit I was hit with a sense of the wow factor and to a smaller extent the feeling of nostalgia for the earlier days of vaping; to me this is a proper box mod, regardless of what you use as a topper! The Smok R-Kiss is a small, light device that fits nicely in hand with an anti-slip grip for ultimate safety.
I tried this mode only once with the Hellvape Dead Rabbit V3 RDA and felt like I had burnt my tongue lol. Pros The size and weight are fabulous and while personally I’m not a big fan of Smok tanks (too thirsty) you can’t argue with the results of the TFV18 mini, this is a well-designed kit that has a great quality to it! Smok R-Kiss 2 – Kit Overview Considering the amount of e-liquid you go through at a higher wattage, Smok might have been better creating a 21700 version if it was possible with this mod. Nevertheless, the battery longevity with dual 18650s is still very good The vape quality is just superb, a full airy and flavourful draw with plenty of vapour production, it’s one of those tanks where I enjoy a really long draw.The airflow control goes from a very airy draw down to a cheek pulling RDL.
On the left side of the mod is a large lateral fire bar, which is especially welcome to those of us that have dexterity issues, the right side is plain and covered with the silicone paint, both sides have bevelled edges making the device comfortable to hold in the hand for extended periods! Smok R-Kiss 2 Battery Door and Compartment I am very impressed by the vapour production that the TFV18 mini can produce along with the consistent flavour! Battery life will depend on which cells you use, but most will easily last a full day and evening.The charging screen shows separate battery icons and percentage, and it charges at a reasonable 2 Amps.The longest I had to wait was 1 ½ hours, but under an hour on average as I don’t like to run my batteries too low so a top up charge here and there will give you longer use. Is it a Smok? Its intelligent features are powered by the upgraded chipset which protects and allows a user to customise their vape. Alongside this, the R-Kiss comes with the TFV Mini V2 tank which has three wide airflow slots and an easy top filling system. From the top the R-Kiss 2 has a well turned 510 threaded connection plate, with a spring loaded gold plated pin. The bigger design with the R-Kiss 2 slightly reduces the convenience compared to the previous model, but it’s pretty similar with a fire bar on the side for both. Despite the three year gap between the release of the R Kiss and the new R-Kiss 2 in 2022 from Smok, they both use the same TFV Mini V2 Tank, which has its plus and minus points. What you do get from each mod and tank combo is major cloud production. If you’re a cloud chaser, the Smok R-Kiss range will be right up your street. Thanks to the technology of the IQ-S chipset you’ll experience a fast ramp-up whatever power level you select. With a range of 5 - 200W, you’ll be able to find a level of vapour production that suits you. Aside from Variable Wattage, there’s also the option of Bypass mode. Bypass will detect the coil resistance and will deliver the maximum power output for a harder-hitting vape.
