Here he developed his ideas of God, death, and infinity, free of the restrictions of mainstream comics publishers' self-censorship arm, the Comics Code Authority.However the seeming unrelation between the stories as well as the fact that about half of them don't have an ending is very unnerving to me, no matter if this is how comic collections usually operate or not. All of these stories never quite feel modern, as with the work being published in Detective Comics at the same time. In the mid-1970s, Starlin contributed a cache of stories to the independently published science-fiction anthology Star Reach. With a career dating back to the early 1970s, he is best known for "cosmic" tales and space opera; for revamping the Marvel Comics characters Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock; and for creating or co-creating the Marvel characters Thanos and Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu. This graphic novel begins with a two-part story that is completely superfluous to the titular arc, featuring Batman's struggle against a costumed imposter. It fully isn't, and the first person/journal pov should have given it away, but the artstyle and storytelling was very similar to golden era stuff so I just worked with that assumption for the longest time.Here we learn that during one of Batman's annual visits to Crime Alley, the area of Gotham in which Thomas and Martha Wayne were murdered, someone had the brass balls to steal the tires off of the Batmobile. Jo Duffy pens a decent one-off about a set of samurai armor that seems to come to life; it’s illustrated nicely by Kieron Dwyer and Mike DeCarlo. Nobody at DC Comics informed me of this, but a collection of all of my BATMAN comic book stories has been published.
