500 Magic: The Gathering Basic Lands - 100 of Each Land Type (Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains, Forests)

Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation each gave us a full art land cycle with the distinctive Bolas horns in them. They are the priciest of all the lands you could use although mint alpha and beta do seem to be catching them at an alarming rate. They also have a much more muted color palette overall that seems almost grayscale at times when compared to the art of Unhinged. I have no intention to collect the Secret Lair cards in the same way as the other lands, I just don't want to commit to something so open.

I'll admit that I was a bit surprised at the overall pricing of energy, and it does seem like there are a lot of products that don't help build decks in a meaningful manner (look, we included a plastic toy! I like a lot of the lands in this slide for various reasons but equally I dislike a bunch too and so I rarely play these as sets. Effects can be more specific with "a basic Plains card" (which means Plains or Snow-Covered Plains) or, very rarely, "a card named Plains". Cards from those sets with the following names are basic lands and have received errata in the Oracle card reference accordingly: Forest, Island, Mountain, Plains, Swamp, Snow-Covered Forest, Snow-Covered Island, Snow-Covered Mountain, Snow-Covered Plains, and Snow-Covered Swamp. For example, cards like Field of Ruin reward both players for having basic lands; a metagame with enough similar cards introduces a strategic liability for players who don't use basic lands.It is easy to spot a card missing from a set but when the whole set is absent that is rather less the case.

There’s no chaff or filler, just an island surrounded by the ocean blue, or a mountain with a totally red sky.The water and sky tones in this one are a treat in foil, and it’s one of our favorite Basic Islands.

I would love to know how much mana these lands have tapped for under my ownership, it would be a lot of mana! I feel like Magic artists are made to refrain from having other land’s colors in the art, or they just do so by choice, and I love that about this land.I love a nice mono deck because I get to run huge numbers of basic lands and really express the deck at hand!
