About this deal

As strange as this might sound," he says, "sometimes, the devil you know is better than the devil you don't." The epilogue was SO CUTE! It was toothachingly sweet and so wholesome! Even though they both have baggage to carry, you know they’re going to be there for each other every step of the way. Carrie Ford is a 25 yr. old woman who grew up in foster care, and has spent the last seven years living in what felt like a nightmare. Pregnant and alone she’s running to freedom and from a past she hopes never finds her. She hops on a bus and walks away leaving her old self behind for a fresh start. She changes her name and disappears. She now has a new identity, and lives in a new town, in a new home. This includes a rude, grumpy new neighbor named River Wild. He’s absolutely beautiful, but she has zero interest in men. Her focus needs to be on her baby, and building them a great life. She plans to stay as far away from River as possible, but then he helps her rescue an abandoned dog and they begin an unexpected friendship. Carrie: She has been through so much throughout her life🥺 my heart was broken with everything that had happened to her and I just wanted to wrap her in a blanket and give her a big hug because she really deserved it. Even though life has been painful for her, she shows how capable she is of making decisions with a positive mind just to try and make her life a little easier. And when she found her way, no one could stop her.

Of course, there was a bit of drama and angst towards the end that had me on the edge of my seat, but overall I was very happy with the way it turned out. This definitely has some more serious themes/subjects May be hard for some to read: domestic violence, child abuse but was well worth the read. My only complaint is that at times the book felt like it’s too chill? That’s not a bad thing, sometimes I really enjoy those chill books. But the fact that even the main conflict happened in the last chapter? I almost though the book would end without her husband finding her and I was like wait what? the ending was just kinda rushed, I think. But overall it was really sweet, I finished it in one setting. sometimes we just need those sweet chill enjoyable books. River is a complicated character. He was cold and standoff-ish the majority of the book, but it never stopped me from loving him. If anything, seeing how he shied away from people and hid from their judgment just made me love him even more all while wanting to give him the biggest hug possible. I loved how his character never really changed either. There was some very strong character development, yet overall River was still the same guy at the end of the book that he was at the beginning. We just got to see him in a different light and how he was when he wasn't hiding from the world. But there was also in this shit, some diamonds who were hiding in the mud and i liked them for their behavior...

Budeme vám posílat jen samé dobré zprávy!

River is still living in his hometown. He hates everyone. People weren't very nice to him when he was only eight years old and shot his sexually abusive stepfather in self defense! His mom told everybody that she killed him and went to prison. A new life, a safe place to lay her head down at nights and to raise her child when it finally arrives, a new job, things are slowly looking up, the only downside is her rude arrogant neighbour River Wild. sa týka Rivera. Zo začiatku to bol fakt kretén a správal sa k nej hnusne, ale postupom času to bolo, ako keď otvárate matriošku. Bol úplne srdiečko a niekedy som sa len rozplývala, aký je úžasný, napriek tomu všetkému. Scéna so skleneným vláčikom na stromček, ach, to bolo krásne. I feel a bit stupid now But I started this, so I have to forge on. I rub my hands together. “Well, I was just wondering…are we…friends?” I listened to this in audio which was brilliantly narrated and really brought the characters to life.

The way the relationships starts and how it turns to something else was intriguing. I have found other stories like this a bit annoying and drag on, but I listened to this all night and didn't want to miss anything. The way she was able to slowly become part of his life was good and not at all predictable, I thought anyway. I found it refreshing how it wasn't all smooth sailing. I loved how much River was interested in her pregnancy. Napriek spomínaným ťažkým témam sa v knihe vyskytovalo veľa vtipných scén, dialógov, vnútorných opisov pocitov a monológov hlavnej hrdinky. Is it possible to be so broken but at the same time full of love to give to a special person? Yes it is, and this book proves it.

News flash: I’m not nice. And I don’t want to be nice. Some people like being assholes. I’m one of those people.❞ This book really does have so many feels and, right from the start in the Prologue, your heart breaks for eight year old River.. and for what tragedy follows in his life. Your heart also breaks for Annie and what she was forced to endure throughout her 7 year abusive marriage to Neil. When Annie finds out that she’s pregnant, she needs to run, to escape her abusive violent cop husband because she is fearful of what he might do to punish her or the baby. Destiny takes Annie (..now a redheaded Carrie) to Canyon Lake Texas.. which is where she first meets her droolworthy but annoying neighbor River. River and I both have our secrets, and that’s okay. Because I understand him. And he understands me. not all together memorable. i think, no i know, i enjoyed the romance, however, there were things that frustrated me. for example, we see River and Carrie becoming good friends. they keep having cute bantery moments, and seem to be steadily progressing into love territory. The anger and pain and hurt have swallowed you up completely, and there’s nothing left but emptiness.
