About this deal

It comes packed with a whisper quiet fan and Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting kit makes the installation process very easy and straightforward. Not to mention, many motherboards default to high energy settings like "multicore enhancement", which push the CPU higher/longer, so make sure that sort of thing is disabled if you want quiet.

It is hard to argue with that sentiment with such a long track record of success with the exceptional NH-D15 and NH-D14 before it, or the NH-U12S and NH-U14S.

Right from the start with Noctua coolers, and in the case of NH-C14S, you have a very well built and massive package. From the looks of the picture, it appears that Noctua have moved the finstack over by about a centimeter. Noctua NH-C14S looks amazing and absolutely obliterates the space between the CPU and side panel, just a massive cooler.

These CPU coolers offer massive cooling performance albeit being low profile configurable with the single fan it uses, that fan can be placed below the cooler radiator area. The cooler has provisions to mount a fan on top and below the fins, providing a few choices in how you set it up.

Looking at the full load temperature, the NH-C14S with one fan was about 1 degree Celsius cooler than the NH-C14. It's handling a 3700X very well currently but I'd like to upgrade to a 5900X and don't know if I should also consider changing to a thicker cooler with two fans. After each testing, we let the temperature inside the case to stabilize for 10 minutes to ensure that the temperature inside the case is back to normal. It also holds all the heat pipes, which in this case are 7 x Ø6mm C-shaped ones, with start point beginning at the contact plate and finish point just after the center section of the heat sink.

NH-C14S allows mounting of the fan underneath the fin stack making the CPU cooler only 115mm high and ideal for many SFF and HTPC systems. Alongside with the mounting hardware, Noctua is also offering a basic screwdriver for the installation of the cooler, a fan speed reducer, a metallic case badge and a syringe with NT-H1 thermal compound. The c-type top-flow design of the NH-C14S not only allows for superb quiet cooling performance while maintaining a much lower profile than today's 140mm tower-style coolers but also ensures excellent airflow over RAM modules and near-socket motherboard components. Caution: Please note that the fans of some tower coolers (especially larger models with 140mm fans, e.If you don't, you'll likely hear the fan having to run at higher RPMs to cool when the CPU is constantly boosting to hit it's maximum speed. Unfortunately, mainboard manufacturers tend to change certain components and heatsinks without pointing it out by using corresponding revision names. Some low-profile cards may fit underneath, however this precludes the use of the cooler in the low height mode with the fan underneath the fin array. Significant share of success have the high-end fan proprietary who come to the coolers for use and have become with their unusual colors and the high recognition value related to optical trademarks.
