About this deal

Step 2 - Becoming braver: Once kids are confident standing up, and want to explore ‘how to push’ with less assistance, the adult or child’s handle can be removed. Parents can watch over their child as they learn to change direction, but with the reassurance that the little one still has balance support whilst they learn and grow. For the perfect fit of your knee pads, grab a soft measuring tape and measure the circumference of your leg above and below the knee. Turning is an issue with the Ookkie. Parents are unable to turn using the parent handle. When my daughter shifted her weight from her toes to her heels, there was a slight turn, but this is a tough concept for a lot of kids to grasp and only resulted in a slight veering. The Ookkie is great for going straight, but taking your child on a walk with several turns could be a pain. We spoke to father, Diego to learn a bit more about Lika's journey with the Ookkie. Here's what they had to say. What was your reason for getting an Ookkie? After a short while we saw Lika's balance and fine motor skills improve tremendously. How has the Ookkie become a part of your family life and routine?

Ookkie combines fun with early development. Not only does Ookkie build confidence as children navigate the mental and physical challenges of learning to skate (in the safest way possible), but they also develop core strength, stability and resilience, helping an energetic little one reach their full skating potential in three easy steps. It is important that the straps are adjusted to a secure yet comfortable tightness. When tightened you should not be able to move the pads up, down, left or right. If not correctly tightened, they may move whilst in use. To ensure you have not tightened them too tight make sure to do a few flexes with your child’s legs and arms and make sure there are no pressure points or pinching. Step 1 - Learning the basics: Ookkie’s confidence-boosting, height-adjustable handles offer side-by-side progression, at a pace that’s comfortable for both parents and little riders. Parents can use their handle to safely guide their child in speed and direction, whilst kids can use their handle to aid stability and develop balance on the board.

Customer Reviews

Warning! Helmet not for use in motor sports or by motor cyclists. No helmet can prevent all head injuries. Even in very low speeds accidents, serious injury or death can occur. For best protection, follow fitting instructions. Yes. Every day, especially in Lika's school. Parents are always asking us, "Where did you buy it?", "Can I take a picture of the brand?" and "Is she afraid to ride it?". Buying the Ookkie safety gear was a bit frustrating. While the quality was great, the sizing is confusing. The company sells sizes XS and S but does not provide any dimensions or age guidelines, so customers are left guessing which size to buy. It’s also difficult to distinguish between knee and elbow pads, which should be labeled. OOKKIE’S WORLD-FIRST LEARNER SKATEBOARD ROLLS INTO UK TODDLERS AS YOUNG AS TEN MONTHS CAN GET CRUISING WITHOUT THE BRUISING Step 3 - Ready to skate on their own: Finally, when parents feel their little one is ultra-confident on their Ookkie board, they can remove all handles so their child can use the skateboard without any parental or handle assistance.

Founded in 2016 by Aussie Dad and tradesman, Daniel De Gaye, the Ookkie Skateboard was created with one goal in mind - to get children learning to skateboard earlier. As a skateboarder himself, Daniel wanted to teach his son how to ride a board safely whilst also developing fundamental balance, stability and confidence.Daniel De Gaye at Ookkie commented: “The Ookkie is a learner skateboard designed for the whole family. We're not sure who enjoys it more: the young rider, mastering skateboarding for the first time, or their proud parents pushing them along! In the first month, was difficult to Lika to grow her confidence and develop her balance, but day by day she got the hang of it, and now, 2 months later, she wants to ride her Ookkie all by herself. Do you get any comments when you're out and about riding the board?
