About this deal

So that`s why i want to recommend you some really realistic quality movies and dramas made by those countries, as they aren`t many.

Marsh, James (March 9, 2021). "The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese movie review: sexually explicit 'boys' love' manga adaptation fails to convince". South China Morning Post. Archived from the original on April 21, 2021 . Retrieved April 16, 2021. Seo No Gekiyaku- a brilliant movie from how daring and psychological it is, for people who don`t mind the forceful acts at at the beginning of the movie, that is similarly with BDSM. This scene highlights the fundamental problem in their romance, because it's evident that Imagase still loved Kyouichi more than the other way around. Although Imagase loves Kyouichi with all his heart, he knows his partner doesn't feel as strongly about their relationship. Imagase can't trust his boyfriend fully because Kyouichi never offers reassurance that he loves him just as much. Nov 20 From the U.S. to Japan, You Can Control the Life-Size Moving Gundam from the Comfort of Your Own Home Initially, I didn't love the ending in The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese, which deviated from the original manga. Those who torture themselves over faithful adaptions will probably HATE this polarizing ending. However, the more I thought about it afterwards, the more I learned to appreciate the symbolism behind how the movie concluded. There's beautiful artistry to this opaque ending, which carries a subtle sense of optimism beneath the bleakness on the surface.

Kyouichi Ootomo, an indecisive and passive office worker, runs into his college underclassmen, Wataru Imagase. Imagase reveals that he was hired by Kyouichi's wife, Chikako, to investigate his infidelity, but he also confesses that he is gay and has been in love with Kyouichi for a long time. He promises not to reveal anything in exchange for a kiss. Kyouichi agrees to the tryst, hoping it will save his marriage, but their secret relationship begins to escalate and eventually becomes sexual. Eventually, Chikako reveals to Kyouichi that she planned on divorcing him and only hired Imagase to get a higher settlement. Kyouichi also learns that Imagase had kept his promise not to reveal his cheating on her. a b c d e Sherman, Jennifer (January 28, 2020). "The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese Manga's Reissues Get Edits in Japan". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on January 28, 2020 . Retrieved January 28, 2020. This is firmly in the "unhealthy relationships and effed up behavior" camp of yaoi. It's a story about sex and feelings; I wouldn't call it a romance, possibly not even a love story. The chemistry between the characters is so good, like i'm serious, i watched almost all the bl movies from Japan, and those kisses and sex scenes are one of the most natural ones, it's only a bit awkward at the beginning until Kyoichi become comfortable with being intimate with Imagase. And those intimacy scenes are very well done, in the way that it showing how the fellings between them are changing, in every new sexual scene they are more eager, and are showed wanting each other in a new level. Japanese movies are in general good when it comes with detail like this. a b c d Pineda, Rafael Antonio (February 12, 2019). "The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese Boys-Love Manga Gets Film in 2020". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on September 30, 2019 . Retrieved September 24, 2019.

In some way, it will get to predictable to watch for the manga fans, and will not necessary make for a better viewing experience, because some things, cute, fluffly moments or irealistic fights will not be that easy to adapt in a movie/or appear too cringy, if they are not changed to be added in a context a bit more serious or some scenes being toned town. And for the viewers who didn't read the manga, the movie will not make sense or not be able to be fully understod if some filling or to realistic scenes are not cut and some new scenes that can bound the continuity of the scenes are not added. If you ever thought reading one of the most decent stories that includes homosexual relationships, you may take this one into consideration. That which interweaves the art, characters and plot into a flawless lacework with no strings unwoven. The movie might feel a bit abrupt and truncated vis-a-vis the manga but it still a complete cohesive piece and I found the choice of certain scenes and the way the whole thing was directed gave this movie a very different style, tone and story from its original work, and I personally appreciated its almost indie-like feel.

I appreciated a lot the details from the manga, that were added to the movie, like; it was raining when they have sex for the same time, that chair that was used mostly by Imagase( even through it was not from the manga), and the ashtray. Natalie (in Japanese). December 23, 2020. Archived from the original on January 9, 2021 . Retrieved December 27, 2020.I usually steer clear of yaoi. I do read adult mangas from time to time and I don't mind yuri, but I'd gag at the thought of gay men sex scenes. The art is not utterly perfect but it does justice to everything else. The boys are drawn in a way that enhances their sexual features (Kyouichi being the more masculine type and Imagase the more feminine one). Story-wise the manga has given a new meaning for its league. It’s simple at first but it definitely changes its pace towards the following chapters. It focuses on Kyouichi’s unfaithful, simple-minded, dense and confusing train of thought. However, it also talks about some past events during their college days and Imagase’s view about Kyouichi. When looking from Imagase’s stand, it makes the story more depressing and bitter. The hardest part of his unrequited love is he is inlove with someone who is straight and indecisive. The only way to show him this kind of love is by forcing on to Kyouichi. The volume has numerous of love making and dialogues along with it. Still has the yaoi feel, only better. Instead of tortured apologia or attempting to hand-wave the darker implications away with minimization, this narrative ruthlessly digs its claws in and will not let go. The NonCon is explored in all its uncomfortableness instead of being under rug swept, and it often functions as a vehicle for social commentary that raises some difficult questions. The story paints an unflinching picture of two maladjusted human beings on an unstoppable (downward?) spiral and the damage they inflict on each other. And it hurts so good. No touching at all aka Doushitemo Furetakunai - this is one of the oldest made, the story can be a bit cliche, but is still worth watching in my opinion, as it can give people a nostalgic feeling. Is at realistic as it could be considering the story.

In one scene Imagase is watching a very old french movie by by himself before Kyouichi comes home the name of this movie is Jean Cocteau’s movie “Orpheus” (1950). Here's an interview I roughly translated from the movie booklet v1 (which is rare and cost me a lot of money to get my hands on it) to which director Yukisada Isao explains why he decided to include this movie in the scene. I need to emphasize how excited I was to watch The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese. This might be one of my most anticipated BL movies in the past few years. My review will be super biased because I LOVE the manga and have a HUGE crush on one of the actors. When I found out Ryo Narita was cast in this movie adaptation, I shed a tear of happiness. Is this what having your dreams come true feels like? 😭 With all that out of the way, the only messed up parts of the story are left in the human nature of the characters, which I found to be very natural so Mentions of this film have popped up on many "best of" lists, but I never saw it until tonight. Your thorough review was, as always appreciated. You rated this one an A+! The only other A+ from you I've noticed thus far was for Eternal Yesterday which for me is also very special. Have there been others you rated this high?

Archived from the original on January 23, 2020 . Retrieved January 23, 2020. The Cornered Mouth Dreams of Cheese is a melodramatic drama of an obsessive relationship and compromised morality, but beyond that it’s an examination of Kyochi’s character. As he becomes entangled in Imagase’s affections, Kyochi is continually challenged on his habit of literally falling into whatever woman gives him a hint of affection–an unhappy wife from his high school reunion, an ex-girlfriend. When openly-gay Imagase lodges himself into Kyochi’s life, uncaring of his friend/victim’s supposed heterosexuality, he occupies a new, fraught place, more than a fling, less than a real relationship. The cornered mouse dreams of cheese, but as they bat one another around emotionally, sexually, its unclear whose who in this cat and mouse game.
