About this deal

I think the phone power drain is the same on units that already have wireless AA and CarPlay built in. Launched early this year, the Motorola MA1 is the device that brought the idea of a wireless Android Auto adapter to the mainstream market, despite it not being the first. Google is aware of this issue and its impact on wireless Android Auto in general, and are working with the automotive ecosystem to address it over time.

Until recently, this space had been dominated by crowdfunded dongles like AAWireless and Carsifi that offer the same functionality. What's even better is that, despite the slower startup, the rest of the Android Auto experience doesn't feel any different.

Sad really but sometimes it’s good that others observe the same issues as it eliminates the potential that it’s your phone/case/car. Going in, the main question I had about the Motorola MA1 was “how is this going to compare to a hardwired connection? Thus far, the company behind Motorola Sound has only offered the MA1 wireless Android Auto dongle in the United States and only through two retailers. I have had a message once saying it had diconnected and had to unplug it and plug it back in - but has been working fine apart from that one off event. What you have is a small puck the shape of a rounded square, complete with a 3-inch cable and USB-A plug.

I am considering something like this as I cannot stand wires, and plugging it in all the time is a bit of a faff! Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). All the problems I experienced were problems I’d had with a wired connection — Audible skipping like a cheap portable CD player, the Nissan infotainment system crashing and rebooting mid-drive, or the fact my touchscreen is about as responsive as a dog when it’s time to take a bath. The Motorola MA1 is a simple product with a single purpose, and that's to let you use Android Auto wirelessly. Toyota has announced further development of THUMS (Total Human Model for Safety), its software programme for computer simulation and analysis of the injuries resulting from vehicle crash impacts.

As I frequently have problems connecting Android Auto with cable (keeps cutting out and in when first plugged in) I'm wondering about one of the wireless dongles on market. For these you install an app on the head unit (like you do on your phone) so that the little box works. As an aside my wireless charging pad seems to have a blanking plate where the button would be to switch it on, anybody else seen that recently? The Android robot is reproduced or modified from work created and shared by Google and used according to terms described in the Creative Commons 3. I’ve have tried it without the case but it was no more than marginally improved, 3 out of 10 must do better in my book.Once I have the MA1 I'll come back with info on performance and Battery drain, although I expect all the devices will be much the same. It was a warm day but with heavy use apps running, using data and connection via WiFi to android auto, it is going to get warm. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . The interface was just as responsive, steering wheel controls work the same way, and so do voice commands.

The AAWireless dongle offers many different reasons to choose it, including a companion app for easier setup. Has anyone used AA Wireless, Carsifi or Motorola MA1 wireless adaptor dongles/receivers yet with the Astra K?One thing I didn't have a chance to try is to see how the device works in tandem with an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot.
