Nose - Rich, warm aromas of apple, toffee and honey with sweet marzipan and subtle tangy marmalade notes. Not particularly memorable but definitely 'nice'. A drink to have while you're doing something else rather thana main event. A Tamnavulin ősi gael nyelven „a hegyen lévő malmot” jelenti. Ez a lepárló helyén lévő egykori malomra utal: a régi időkben a környéken élő gazdák rendszeresen ide terelték a juhaikat, mert a malom vízienergiája a gyapjúkészítésben is kulcsszerepet játszott, később pedig a whiskykészítésben vették hasznát. Their core range includes a selection of NAS offerings. The flagship bottle is the Double Cask , which was the distillery’s first release for over 20 years and has been finished in sherry butts to give it added richness. They have also launched a series of Red Wine Cask Editions, which sees Tamnavulin experiment with the likes of Spanish Grenache and German Pinot Noir . Double Cask matured for a classic Speyside taste; rich, smooth and mellow. The distillery at Tamnavulin was opened in 1966 on the banks of River Livet, deep in the heart of Speyside, the most celebrated whisky producing region in Scotland.

Awards for Tamnavulin Double Cask

Matured in American oak barrels and finessed by three different types of sherry cask to complement the sweet, mellow flavour of Tamnavulin. Nose: Meaty, nutty, and malty. Deep, oily notes of beeswax and coconut butter. The oily toasted nut aroma almost reminds me of ghee. The sherry notes are very faint – mostly adding the nuttiness and a faint suggestion of dates or prunes. A typical allround Speyside malty nose with citrus fruits, apples, pears and banana. Some malt sugars and a sherried edge with chocolate and raisins. A subtle whiff of smoke. Not bad at all! I prefer bourbon coming from USA but wanted to try this while traveling in Sweden. Took 1 glass to get familiar with the taste, but i found it to be delightful change from my heavier bourbon taste Tamnavulin has a classic Speyside profile and is known for its smooth and soft character. Using water from the nearby River Lent, high-quality barley and ex-bourbon barrels, they’re able to produce approachable whisky with delicious notes of honey, fruit and malt. Originating from Spain, the sherry casks selected to finesse this single malt scotch whisky provide the signature notes of raisin, vanilla and orange. A perfect complement to the sweet, mellow and smooth taste of Tamnavulin
