About this deal

During one incident in 2000, whilst working in Basildon, five men were thrown out of a bar became angry and began attacking him outside. But my birth parents actually stayed together and then decided to get married a year after my birth… Which was quite a surprise, if I’m honest. Paul Connolly, 56, has overcome the mental and physical abuse he suffered as a boy and gone on to share his traumatic story in a series of books. To launch the release of Big Boys Don't Cry, Screenbound Pictures is hosting a screening of the film on Monday, September 5 to raise money for Great Baddow-based Kids Inspire.

These were the first sort of serious role models that I found weren’t trying to bugger me or beat me up. Paul Connolly also featured on ITV’s Long Lost Family Season 13, episode 1 on July 3rd, 2023 uncovering unexpected elements of his personal life.

Many of our clients appreciate the benefits from the moment they have their initial consultation and we develop a programme tailored to their needs. I'm ashamed of my fellow man who has ever laid their perverted, disgusting and revoltingly cruel hands on you. Fortunately I have suffered nowhere near to the physical abuse and sexual abuse that Paul and other kids in St Leonard’s had to suffer from. In the film, the main character, Paul Connolly (played by Michael Socha), is forced to confront his demonds after the death of a childhood friend.

About Paul Connolly – Essex Based Physical Therapy About Paul Connolly – Essex Based Physical Therapy

He has established himself as a personal trainer and a specialist conditioning coach, based in Essex. On behalf of all the decent, caring parents and people out in the world, I offer my most sincere apologies to you Paul. Our sincere thanks go to him for supporting Kids Inspire’s services, raising awareness of the adversity children and young people can face and for inspiring hope for a positive future.

Former amateur boxer Paul is now a father of two, and runs his own fitness and rehabilitation business. He became involved with Operation Mapperton to uncover the child abuse that took place at the children's home. The news made Paul reconsider the direction of his whole life and start to make something positive from it. I know Paul has a lovely family and support network that makes his life endurable and even happy and rich. They have also added a new member to the family, Ralph, a Yorkshire Terrier who is just 12 weeks old.

Meet the Billericay author who overcame child abuse

Paul, I am so proud of your determination to better yourself and protect others, despite the huge disadvantages of physical, emotional, educational, psychological abuse you were tormented with. To this day I never trust anybody in authority or in a higher position because to me they use their power to do what they like.

I am proud to say that I have seen hundreds of patients and clients become free of pain, recover from injury or illness through rehabilitation and lose weight, get fit and participate in sporting events all at levels they had never expected. Literally abandoned with the rubbish at 2 weeks old and taken into the care system of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Paul Connolly was sent to the notorious St Leonard’s home in Essex, where he regularly heard that he was 'not normal' during years of mental, physical and sexual abuse.
