Utilising the same foundational RGBWW chipset found in other Aputure and amaran fixtures, the amaran 150c boasts stunning colour quality throughout its expanded 2,500K to 7,500K bi-colour CCT range. And with a CRI and TLCI of 95+, SSI (D56) of 71, and SSI (Tungsten) of 83, you can always ensure that you can light your subjects with confidence while reproducing accurate skin tones. A few additional design improvements deserve an added mention here — for one, both fixtures feature an improved “silent” active cooling system that I’m happy to report is quieter than the past amaran products I’ve used. The yoke is now metal and doesn’t feel as breakable as prior generations. The main advantage of a Bowens Mount is that you can use many different lighting modifiers such as the new Light Dome Mini SE. This is an octabox soft light modifier, featuring an 8-sided parabolic design with a reflective silver inner lining. Measuring 58x34x21,5cm / 22,8×13,4×8,5in when built, with a weight of 0,73kg/1.61lbs, the Light Dome Mini SE is comparatively small and light for a soft light octabox. The color control, modifiability, and build quality of the amaran 150c and 300c make them incredibly valuable additions to any filmmaker’s or content creator’s lighting kit. With an octagonal diffusion design, filmmakers and creators can achieve rounder reflections and eye lights compared to a square or rectangular design. The amaran 150c also punches well above its weight class, outputting 15,610 lux (5600K) using the included Hyper Reflector combined with 0-100% dimming control.
