About this deal

If you think taking a road trip during the zombie apocalypse, then Hit Z Road might be just the game for you. Watch out for zombies! Despite its potential complexity, the game is highly customisable with multiple difficulty levels that greatly alter the gameplay and add entirely new mechanics - hence all the rulebooks. If you like the zombie genre but want your tabletop gaming with a bit more meat on its bones, Dawn of the Zeds is the zombie board game for you.

When you encounter an adventure card you scavenge the resources shown on the top-left of the card, then face the event shown in the centre of the card, before fighting the number of zombies (if any) indicated at the bottom-right of the card. Once you have done that you move onto the next card. When everybody has dealt with their routes, new routes are placed and the auction phase begins again. A True Ameritrash Story

CONCLUSION

Once players have seen the 4 different paths to choose from during this leg of the trip they’re ready for the auction. Hit Z Road is an auction and dice rolling game revolving around your group of survivors traveling from the Midwest to Los Angeles while trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. No, I am not making this up as I go. Like a good tabletop RPG, Zombicide is highly expandable and moddable. The original base game features ten scenarios. Over the eight years since its initial release, Zombicide has received multiple expansions, sequels and spin-offs - including a medieval fantasy plague and mutated space zombies. With a new second edition of the base game featuring 25 scenarios launching later this year, as well as a fully-fledged RPG spin-off on the way, it's never been a better time to go zombie-hunting.

Final Score: 4 Stars – A unique take on zombie survival that relies on a combination of auctioning and dice rolling. If a player gets hit during melee and doesn’t have the adrenaline to spend — or doesn’t want to spend it — he loses one of his survivors. But this is devastating, since that player will roll fewer dice on future melee battles. I know that may be a perfect fit for the theme of the game; I just don’t like the increasing disparity it causes along the way. With only 1 survivor left and rolling a red die…I think I’m going to die. Like all board games, not everything is perfect. If all of your survivors die, you are out of the game. A series of bad rolls near the start of the game can have you watching from the sidelines or playing Piano Tiles 2 on your phone until the game is finished. While I do not mind player elimination, I could see this as a downside for some. The game is played over eight rounds. To win, you need to have at least one survivor make it all the way to the West Coast by lasting all eight rounds; among those players that do, the player with the most points wins. The game gets progressively more challenging each round: the first two rounds are with the relatively easy Level I card, then there are three rounds with the moderately-challenging Level II cards, and the final three rounds are with the difficult Level III cards. Despite its small size, the fun components really help sell the theme. Equipping a little plastic chainsaw on your meeple before heading out to hunt some zeds is always fun, and who can resist placing their meeple in the little wooden police car before crashing into the hardware store? Tiny Epic Zombies isn't only one of the best Tiny Epic games, it also keeps up with its bigger siblings on this list. Hit Z Road offers a starkly different gameplay experience compared to most zombie games. Every round players bid on which route they wish to take from a selection of cards that have much-needed resources - and oft-avoided zombie hordes. Ammo can be used to shoot zombies with little risk, while adrenaline is needed to avoid getting your passengers killed in the middle of a big fight. City of Horror: Cosy up to your fellow players for when the time comes to vote to throw one of your dwindling survivors to the zombies.
