About this deal

Archaon, now known as the Destroyer of Worlds, is once again the big bad during the reign of Chaos. All those rumors about him being the new hero are complete shit. One wonders why he still serves Chaos since the Warhammer world has been destroyed and Sigmar has been irrefutably proven to be real and a god. GW seems to have trouble with consistent writing. He even got to keep his steed Dorghar, although Dorghar has changed dramatically. Darkblade: Reign of Blood by Dan Abnett and Kev Hopgood (2005, ISBN 1844162060), reissued with an additional story as Darkblade, The graphic novel (2011, ISBN 9781844168347)

Warhammer The End Times 1: Nagash.: This is the main book of the first part. It's composed of two volumes: one explaining the story of the resurrection of Nagash and the battles before and immediately after, including also the struggles of the Empire in the north against the vanguard of the forces of Archaon. The other volume contains the rules, characters, army lists and scenarios to play said battles in the tabletop. End Times: Khaine has Araloth being told by Lileath, the last remaining god from the original elven pantheon and his lover, that she has set up an afterlife with the newly deified Eldyra presiding over it that can be made into a new world and she assigns Araloth make it a good place as well as take care of their child. When Lileath opens a portal to this paradise, Araloth enters it, his fate unknown. Aborted Arc: In End Times: Archaon, Vlad von Carstein takes Jerrod, the Duke of Quenelles, aside and tells him to go to Abhorash and Gilles le Breton, and tell the former that "He was right." What it was that Abhorash was right about was meant to be included in a subsequent book, but was unfortunately never implemented. The Complete Tales from the Ten-Tailed Cat edited by Marc Gascoigne and Christian Dunn (2005, ISBN 1844161455) Gilles le Breton and his last Grail Knights team up with Abhorash and his vampiric Blood Dragons for one last stand against the Chaos army before the Incarnates begin their desperate plan. That is literally all we're told about what should be the most epic cavalry charge in the history of the setting, and as close as Bretonnia or the Blood Dragons come to any kind of resolution. These novels and short stories were authored by Nathan Long and collected in omnibus in 2007 ( ISBN 9781844165100) and 2023 ( ISBN 9781789996722). The author succeded in attempt to summon the air of the Warhammer as it was intended by playing the tabletop wargame.

Black Library - Series

Spanner in the Works: Malagor tries to be this to Arkhan's plans to resurrect Nagash, and fails. Mannfred is this to the Incarnates plans. Beneath every sleeping city, beneath every town and mighty fortress, the Skaven hordes surged out of their tunnels in their tens of thousands and brought about a wave of sudden violence and destruction that eventually overwhelmed the rule of Mankind's kingdoms. Under-tunneled and overrun, every major city was now a blasted ruin over which a ragged clan banner openly flew. The Skaven lost a great many of their warriors, to such extent that none could ever count the ocean of half-eaten bodies that littered the filthy streets of each and every city, but such were their numbers and cruelty that none shed a single tear for their lost kin, for they have many more and the fruits of their victory had brought about a new cycle of violence that would threaten to plunge their race once more into open civil war. [4a] These novels were collected in omnibus in 2003 and 2006 and with additional short stories in 2013 and 2018 ( ISBN 9781784967857). Neferata (killed; Thorek Ironbrow. This is debatable, as she dealt a lethal wound to Thorek Ironbrow but he killed anyway himself by detonating his Anvil of Doom in an attempt to destroy the undead army).

Space Marine Battles

With the entire kingdom finally alerted to the Chaos threat, Ebnir Soulflayer, most trusted of the Witch King's generals, rode out towards the Tower of Volroth with what forces he could readily muster, only to find the fortress, which itself housed 80,000 elite Druchii warriors, lying in ruins. The Bloodied Horde had already breached the first layer of Naggaroth's defences. With their passage southward cleared, the titanic horde had separated into numerous smaller forces to seek their own individual glory, whilst Valkia remained true to the path laid by her God and besieged the very capital of Naggarond itself. The splinter hordes which travelled eastward made for the shrine-city of Har Ganeth where they met the bloodthirsty warriors of Hellebron, High-Priestess of Khaine. Those which journeyed southward were confronted by Malus Darkblade and the cold-hearted legions of Hag Graef, painting the Dark Road red with the blood of the invaders. These novels were authored by C. L. Werner and collected in omnibus in 2015 and with additional short stories in 2019 ( ISBN 9781784969349). These novels and short stories were authored by Graham McNeill and collected in omnibus in 2012 and with an additional short story in 2017 ( ISBN 9781784965730). Heldenhammer won the David Gemmell Legend Award in 2010.

Black Library - The End Times

The Ogres and Orcs combining into one force, the death of several leaders from both groups in the ensuing power struggle, and their subsequent destruction of the Chaos Dwarves civilization and the never-really-developed human empires to the east are mentioned only in passing.

Yet, while the forces of the northern wastes were now challenged at every turn, the pride of the Dark Elves' northern holds once again proved to be their folly. Each hold, fortress and army stood alone against their foes rather than united under a single banner. [1c] The stupidity of such pride and avarice was perfectly demonstrated in the slaughter which followed. The city of Clar Karond could have been saved from utter destruction had Malus Darkblade's army lent its aid towards their beleaguered brethren instead of looking to its own interest. Many times had Hellebron ranted and railed from Har Ganeth for aid to stop the berserk invaders from breaching her very gates, but none deigned answer the call. Eventually her city was finally overrun, and in her bloody madness, the Blood Queen accepted her fate and gave praise to Khaine as she and her remaining acolytes filled the streets with blood offerings. To the north, what remained of Ebnir Soulflayer's army was slowly worn away in vainglorious attempts to stem the advance of Chaos. Once again the Druchii, by their very nature, had sown the seeds of their own destruction as they fought not out of a sense of duty to their country and people, but for a chance at forgiveness from the Witch King's wrath. With their pointless endeavours, pride, and vanity, an irreplaceable portion of the Dark Elves' already dwindling military reserves were lost. [1c] Mind-Stealer by C. L. Werner (short story, originally published 2012 in Gotrek and Felix: The Anthology) Neferata- She's ruling a part of the realm of Shyish called Nulahmia. She's forced to defend it against chaos armies of Slaanesh but has to eventually get rescued by the Stormcast Eternals If anything this book touched on the nature of evil. Sigmar all but calls out Archaon and tells him that he put himself where he is. No one else. No gods. No men. No one. It was your own action that brought you here, you have no one to blame but yourself. Which was just awesome because reading the Archaon books I kind of felt the same, has Archaon tried to walk a different path things would have been different? As Sigmar himself said 'it could have been you standing here saving humanity' or something along those lines and hes right. Even the great additional character of Kanto Unsworn even says the same. Did you even try to walk a different path? Or did you just accept this as destiny and blame all the gods rather than try and change it. Remember Archaon is still human, a sword will kill him as easily as the next man. He could even have chosen to kill himself. He didn't. He just went along with the chaos gods and blamed everyone for all his trouble. Just a pathetic man who ran to another god because he didn't get the answers from the one he originally served.
