About this deal

Remainder Mark - A remainder mark is usually a small black line or dot written with a felt tip pen or Sharpie on the top, bottom, side page edges and sometimes on the UPC symbol on the back of the book. The video talks about using graph paper for the grid, but I like my grid squares to have permanently typed (X,Y) coordinates on them so character positions can be easily noted in the event that we have to stop in the middle of a session and still be able to set everyone back up where they were. Boxed items are listed as "code/code" where the first code represents the box, and the second code describes the contents. Ah yes, my friend the other DM advised that regardless of what you use, if for some reason it is really stuck on there you can use cheap beer as a cleaner and it works very well.

I've been using Expo for a while, but still have some ghosting issues when I let the board sit too long between deep cleanings or let it air dry because I feel lazy that day. Role-playing Games Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for gamemasters and players of tabletop, paper-and-pencil role-playing games. One other idea I have employed is to get large, one-inch grid paper sheets for easels, usually 24”x36” or more, and draw out maps ahead of time on individual sheets of paper. The black is not bad, but blue and red are extremely difficult to clean off and leave possibly permanent marks or at least multiple cleaning is required.Heavy books might cause the cover to crack or tear and laptops put out enough heat in most cases that it can seriously weaken the stability of the cover. That’s what I got and the only imperfection is a heavy stitch near the edge of the map on one side, that runs for about 4 inches. It is simply unclear writing by Gygax and others that makes people think there's rules behind the curtains. Don't get the set of Sharpie Water Based Caligraphy Markers (they work, but are such a thin line it is almost impossible to see). The mats feature either 1" hexes or squares, or, for the reversible ones, 1" hexes backed by 1" squares.

After the battle, just wipe out the whiteboard marker drawn on the plastic cover, the permanent grid inside is still pristine. I figured I can start with the 26 * 23 1/2 inches of the standard Chessex battlemat, but advice is welcomed. There are a few other never do things but it has been so long ago, I can't remember them but in general. The only drawback is that my maps are pretty big, I'd guess about 3'x4', and the sheet of glass would have to be pretty big to cover it, making it inconvenient in weight, storage, and possible breakage.
