About this deal

We took our chosen litters and poured 3 inches of each one into a litter tray. We then scored each litter on;

This litter comes in 7, 14, and 28-pound bags. Because the litter is made from compressed corn rather than clay, it is lightweight compared to most traditional cat litters. What Do Customers Think of World’s Best Cat Litter? Do you have a favourite type or brand of litter you use regularly for our cats? Have you had experience with the cat litters we’ve looked at above? Based on extensive research, hands-on testing, and expert insights, we’ve selected the following 12 cat litter products as the best you can put in your cat’s box. Cat litter can be made from a variety of different materials, and each has its own characteristics. Clay We chose a few of our most trusted customers and bought them the litter to test at home, with their cats. We agreed to go and scoop their litter trays twice a day. Once in the morning and again in the evening.

Why Use Cat Litter?

Not all litter is flushable, especially clay and silica. If you want to flush it though, make sure you choose a flushable litter.

Clump or no clump: Non-clumping | How it smells: Unscented | Dust levels: Low-dust | Ingredients: Silica gel crystals The cat wee just simply turns into a lump and you can just scoop it out and pop it down the loo – you never have to clean the tray as the wee doesn’t reach the bottom..” The best way to dispose of cat litter is to scoop it into a biodegradable poop bag, and then place in your normal household bin, or a cat litter bin. They’re ready-made tray liners filled with litter. This makes cleaning the litter tray super easy. All you have to do is remove the old liner, tie it up and bin it. Then replace it with a new liner.Many cat litters made from natural materials are more expensive than traditional clay litters, but that is not the case with World’s Best Cat Litter. For starters, it’s Tofu. It’s safe to eat, for cats and humans (although we wouldn’t recommend making your tea with it). But this makes it perfect for curious kittens or cats with pica syndrome who might eat their litter. Also, it’s not ideal for multiple cats. We found that if a clump dried and got we again, it could turn a bit mushy. We're afraid it's up to you to tempt/bribe your cat into liking the one that best fits your time, needs and budget. What is cat litter made of? In practice we found that the litter didn’t clump, with the pellets instead turning to a mushy substance when wet and dirty. As with Catsan, the pellets didn’t do a great deal in terms of stopping the dreaded cat poop odour, but cat wee was neutralised very effectively. Overall a really solid budget choice of cat litter, which lasted for ages!

On the whole though, because it clumped so well, there was very little waste. A bag of Dr Elsey’s Ultra lasted longer than other clumping litters we tested.Clay cat litter is by far the most popular type on the market today. It’s the most widely available and cost-effective. It has its critics, however. Because it’s gathered through strip mining and is non-biodegradable, its environmental impact has been described as an “ absolute catastrophe.” And because it’s made from corn, it’s very porous so not only does it absorb liquids, it also traps odours very well. Non-clumping litters come in a range of materials, such as recycled paper pellets, wood pellets and crystals. Some are also flushable, but that depends a great deal on your home plumbing system, Conrad says.

For clumping litter, remove solids and clumps daily, and replace with the same amount of litter you’ve removed. The litter doesn’t need to be fully replaced as often as non-clumping litter, but it’s still a good idea to do this every so often – usually it’s best to do this every month. How to Clean the Litter Tray? The biggest disadvantage of clay litter though is that it isn’t very green. The process to extract the clay (called strip mining) is not environmentally friendly at all and leads to deforestation, loss of wildlife habitat and pollution to name but a few. Clay cat litter also isn’t biodegradable or compostable either so just ends up in landfill until the end of time. The best litter for your cat depends on a number of factors, including whether your cat has long or short hair, if they have sensitive paws or any any allergies, your budget, and how much time you have to keep their litter tray clean.

Moreover, since its effectiveness means that you do not have to empty the entire litter box when taking out the waste, it might prove to be a budget-friendly option in the long run.
