About this deal

If you’re invested in Dewalt’s 20V MAX battery system, you’ll be pleased to know that both saws are compatible with these batteries. This interchangeability can be a game-changer if you have other Dewalt tools. You won’t need to invest in a separate set of batteries and chargers for each tool, saving you money in the long run. I’ve been waiting for a rafter hook but it was the dust port that got me to upgrade. It collects the majority of the dust and will be an asset when cutting indoors. Bottom Line Ergonomics matter when you’re working on long projects. The DCS565 shines here with its rubber over-molded grip, designed to reduce user fatigue. The DCS391 is no slouch either, but the comfort level of the DCS565 takes it up a notch.

Example: When crafting intricate joinery for a custom bookshelf, the precise adjustments of the DCS565 ensured a perfect fit. 9. Durability: Built to Last DCS391 features a brushed motor, while DCS565 boasts a brushless one. What’s the fuss about? Well, a brushless motor is the Rolls Royce of power tool motors. It’s more efficient, lasts longer, and requires less maintenance. In practical terms, this means the DCS565 will likely outlive the DCS391 and deliver more consistent power over time. The brushless (above right) is more compact and adds a led light, rafter hook, and dust port. Otherwise, these saws are nearly identical. The saw has a variable adjustment of the bevel angle up to 50° while delivering an ultra thin kerf as well as a 55mm max. cut depth. Consider how often you’ll be lugging your circular saw around. The DCS565 is a bit lighter than the DCS391. This might not seem like a big deal, but when you’re carrying it from job to job or working overhead, every ounce counts. The reduced weight of the DCS565 can make a noticeable difference in your comfort and mobility.

In my testing the 391 had a bit more power under-load than the 565. The 391 was faster on rips and more easily powered through 45° cross cuts. RuntimeOf course, the budget plays a vital role in your decision-making process. The DCS565 tends to be a bit pricier than the DCS391 due to its brushless motor and added features. But, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for long-term reliability and superior performance, the extra investment might be worthwhile. Starting with fully charged 5 amp hr batteries the brushless 565 was able to cut 18′ more board feet than the brushed 391. I ran the test twice switching batteries between tests to let both saws run the same battery. In both tests the brushless had about 50% better runtime. Features Both the DCS391 and the DCS565 are built with Dewalt’s reputation for durability in mind. However, the brushless motor in the DCS565 contributes to its longer lifespan. This saw is engineered to withstand years of heavy use, making it a wise investment for professionals and avid DIYers alike.
