Tyler The Creator’s Igor is his fifth album and is a record about love and love lost, but Tyler conveys it as much through the warm synths and ‘70s soul drums as he does words. At the start of the album you have happy sounding songs such as Earfquake and I Think, but as the situation deteriorates the songs become less happy, and IGOR becomes more possessive and desperate, culminating in a break up on 'What's Good? That Grammy-nominated album is eminently pleasing, the sound of an iconoclast succumbing to his better judgment. I’m not really into this sort of music, but when I heard the first track off the album there was definitely something different about it. As the album progresses, Tyler goes through his undulations of denial and acceptance, but spends considerable energy hoping to help his beloved find satisfaction, even if that means a future without him. Solange and Jessy Wilson, plus Lil Uzi Vert and Kanye West, among others, often sound like their butterflies are as acute as Tyler's own. The sound and the visuals were immediately captivating so listened to a few more tracks, and before long I was hooked.
