About this deal

This was a great start to a series about Wallflowers who are tired of depending on men for their future and make plans to be "wicked". I thought maybe it would be better when they finally meet, but it felt too unrealistic (or maybe I was just bored). Maryann, for instance, has been betrothed to a man twice her age and plans to escape marriage by getting herself ruined by a notorious rake (in a book to come, natch). I love Stacy Reid’s writing style and have enjoyed many of her books but this one was way too slow and the narrator was horrible. The Duke is solemn but sweet (when he’s not in pain) and has unique relationships with his household staff and his sister that makes it clear he is interested in people as they are, not as society deems they should be.

Os diálogos e cenas entre Alexander e Katty são primorosos e aquecem (ou cortam, às vezes) o coração do leitor. He no longer has to be ashamed of what he sees as weaknesses, but he struggles with breaking the habit of feeling ashamed. This didn’t feel realistic to me, and I wish the author had taken the opportunity to show that happily ever after looks different for many people. The writing in this book is great, and I loved getting into the inner monologue of both our characters. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. She was only hoping the connection would be just the thing to see her sisters married and taken care of. She has absolutely no options for getting married, so she makes up an entire story and convinces everyone that it’s true! Encouraged by her supportive group of friends she decides to make the life-changing decision of lying about her engagement to an influential Duke to allow her sisters to enter society. The book slows down once she moves into his castle, something he insists upon for a little while if she wants him to keep up the ruse of their engagement.

He also collects things from all over the world - one he used to travel often, but since his impairment has had to be satisfied with continuing to acquire items to add to his treasure room, which is where he spends much of his time. Someone recommended Stacy Reid’s Sinful Wallflowers series, and since they’re on Kindle Unlimited I decided to give it a shot! She'll impress the ton by simply announcing she is engaged to the reclusive and mysterious Duke of Thornton, Alexander Masters, and secure strong matches for her sisters. But a chance encounter forces her to confront the truth: what happened to make Macy stop speaking to Elliot?

Soon, they are involved in a chase, a clash of wills, and though he once vowed to never love again, he burns for the enchanting Miss Danvers. His thoughts about Kitty and his proclamations to her are very romantic, and the depth of his feelings for her had me swooning. latest tackles the difficult subject of domestic violence with romantic tenderness and emotional heft. When her friends declare themselves ‘Sinful Wallflowers’, she comes up with an outrageous plan to use the power of a duke's name to her advantage. But given that this is the kind of rhetoric used to dismiss the real limitation of people who have chronic disabilities, it took away from the story for me.

Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Fallon who was taken far away from home shortly after she was born. I will be honest, when I first started this book I actually thought it might get to a five-star, that is how good it worked for me at first. But after hearing news of their supposed engagement, Alexander started keeping a close eye on the scandal sheets and became fascinated by the woman who claimed to be his fiancé - so fascinated that he decided to take the trip to London to meet her, despite not being out in society for around 10 years.

Up until H and h met, it was strange because I felt their relationship was already blossoming and that I was in for a treat when I read it. El romance entre Kitty y Alexander creció poco a poco y de una forma creíble que te hacía querer un final bonito para ellos. I am a wife, a mom, a speech-language pathologist, a lover of languages and books and nature and wildness and freedom and sweet frozen dessert like things. But even through the epilogue, Alexander remains focused on attaining his idea of sexual success, the [boring] missionary position.I loved the writing style so much and I don't know if this can be fully classed as a Beauty and the Beast retelling but there were definitely some hints throughout that it could be one, with Kitty saying that Alexander hides away in the West Wing of his home like the Beast does!
