About the fragrance: Pure Malt has a very sweet start! Musk and patchouli immediately give it an earthy touch. Together with the peat and whisky, you actually have the feeling of being sprayed with a long aged alcoholic drink. This "flag" surrounds one the first few hours and is also clearly noticeable for the wearer. In the further course of time, the woody notes are added. The whole remains as a sweet-woody film on the skin. Mugler originally trained as a dancer and worked professionally starting at age 14. After studying interior design, he moved to Paris at age 24 and began working as a window dresser and freelance designer. His first personal collection for women was produced in 1973. Mugler opened his first Paris boutique and also launched a menswear collection in 1978. His style is distinguished by its futuristic shapes and fantasy elements. Recommendation: Pure Malt is a great, bold, boozy, and casual fragrance, that makes it a great buy. I am kind of new to the hobby of collecting and trying new fragrances. Over the past few months I’ve had the opportunity to try about 70 fragrances.

As the scent wears on, I feel that it becomes even better than the opening act. The berry-like fruits begin to fully emerge and give the cologne a distinctive feel. Nonetheless, they are only playing a supporting role at this stage. However, Pure Malt never relinquishes its very masculine energy or fall into a trap of being too ambiguous. I found myself constantly trying to get a whiff of this lovely gourmand scent throughout the night that I was wearing it. It was just enjoyable and pleasant to wear. Havane is a warm and sensual tobacco note blended with sugar, honey, and a bit of vanilla.I bought this fragrance today and unfortunately I have never smelled the original Pure Malt so I can't make a comparison. The box is silver and it mentions "Eau de toilette sublimée en fût de chêne". Ill copy/paste what is written on my box: You are sitting at a well worn wooden table enjoying a lemon cream pastry, sipping a cappuccino, and someone nearby has a sweet perfume on.. Close your eyes, imagine this scene, this is exactly what Ultimate smells like to me. This is a great fragrance for a night out, especially if going to a bar or a venue where alcohol is served. Quite a youthful scent, but certainly can be worn by any age, including the ladies. I bought this frag during the summer months. I waited to give my review until the fall when most change from spring/summer fragrance.

I blind-bought this. The only other Mugler I own is Mugler Cologne, which I really like. The A*Men line, to me, has been too intense. I don't own any of them. Not that I won't. I may eventually. So, when I read about A*Men Ultimate, it sounded different than the previous A*Mens and I thought I'd give it a try. I expected it to be fresher than it is. after getting my pure malt creation, there is a difference to me in the opening, a sweeter version perhaps? still has the dna of the original. trying it on the top of my wrist and the original on the other. The original is still a remarkable fragrance and creation is so very close to me. It does seem to have a little better longevity but not overwhelmingly so. Better projection at first. I really believe those who have pure malt and love it like I do, I say don't think there is any reason to dump your bottle for this one. I still have half of my original left and now have this. I have not tried it in the office yet. I think I need some more time with it to really define if there are distinct differences or do I want there to be?.. Overall it is a great fragrance bearing the same fragrant beauty as the USA version I have with perhaps a sweeter overall aroma. The whiskey accord is there, but fairly tame. After about 20 minutes I can detect the peat in there. It’s odd but somehow it works. Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler seems to be a quite polarizing fragrance on Parfumo. According to all definitions, which I might read here so far a correct Mainstreamduft. Or maybe not? As the scent wears on, I feel that it becomes even better than the opening act. I can see why folks complain about potency longevity and so on. It definitely suffers a bit in the reformulation. Don’t be afraid to hit the sprayer enthusiastically.

Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Malt EDT is a fantastic, strong, sweet vanilla, boozy, malt, whiskey, resinous amber, and coffee fragrance.

It's insanely fruity. Not in a Skittles way, but the combination of patchouli, fruity notes, and whatever "whiskey" accord is here, lend themself to a really unique take on "fruity".

Delicious, seductive, delectable. This is a banger. Good in every way. Beast performance and longevity, classy, just downright smells good, and women will love you. Sadly they are discontinuing it as l'oreal bought out Mugler. True tragedy as the A*men line is awesome.Once again, thank you for your time and I hope you will continue to enjoy the magic that is Mugler. I sprayed it immediately thought hmm a little sweet for my novice nose. After trying a handful of others from I kept on trying to figure out what this awesome smell was, and discovered that fragrances have layers, too, heart, base, drydown, etc.
