About this deal

A collaboration between Jackie Morris and Robert Macfarlane, The Lost Words is a very special illustrated collection of spell-poems to re-wild the language of children. A fond goodbye is said, and the final page shows back views of the bears watching the tiny boat way out on the ocean. He's frightened of the dark, the dark all around, which not even Big Bear's largest lantern can light up. It takes time to dress warmly, and the layers make it more difficult to participate in the students' usual activities. I also read this book with children when I worked in a pre-nursery and during SBT with the younger children.

Cute book where Big Bear tries to get Little Bear to sleep but Little Bear is scared of the dark so big Bear must find a solution.

A cute idea, but falls short, since it's way too wordy for the younger crowd, even though the concept is geared toward them. The bright illustrations and fun text make this Finger Puppet Book perfect for snuggling up and reading together. And finally, Little Bear's Wish finds the ursine mother and son enjoying the intimacy of bedtime, as Little Bear learns that some wishes are more likely to be granted than others, and that Mother Bear has wishes of her own. Else Holmelund Minarik's simple stories and Maurice Sendak's warm illustrations make Little Bear a favorite among beginning readers.

our little hero repeatedly brings his sartorial troubles to Mother Bear, confident in her ability to solve the problem, only to learn eventually that he had what he needed all along. Of course, if you are going to read this, you definitely have to do the voices for Little Bear, Mother Bear, and all of the animals. They are also shaped like windows so that the reader is almost looking into this new world where the bears live.A warm, humorous tale of family relations for ages 4 - 8 with illustration by Maurice Sendak (1928 - 2012). This is one of the books from James Mustich's 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die A Life-Changing List.

Cute book with four stories (or chapters) that will entertain young children and is a great building block for early readers. However as they are so young and don’t yet have the cognitive ability to have this book read to them fully as a class they have the story read to them as a sensory story – which I have found fascinating.

This story depicts patience and kindness on the part of big bear, where he goes to great lengths to help little bear realise that the dark is nothing to be afraid of. Else Holmelund Minarik was the author of the Little Bear series of children's books, which were successful as books, and were also made into a successful children's TV series.

Finally, the mother has given the little bear everything that she can think of to keep him warm, and little bear decides that what he really needs is a fur coat. Little bear removes all of the clothing that the mother bear has given him, and goes out to play as he originally was in his own fur coat. I'm sure I read this as a child, but I remembered the illustrations more than the stories themselves. Back Cover is plain green and this wraps around forming a plain green line on the left side of the front cover. RJ grew up in Leamington Spa before moving down to Devon to study illustration at the University of Plymouth in Exeter and never went home again!Described as 'the most perfect children's book ever written', this is a beautiful 25th anniversary edition of the Kate Greenaway-winning story of Little Bear, who just can't sleep. Although I read all four stories, I will summarize the first story titled, "What Will Little Bear Wear?
