Prince’s moments of bringing up his loved ones disabilities to get a gotcha out of other people rubbed me the wrong way, though. and Prince was literally so wholesome and sweet, i loved him 🥹💗 Their relationship was also really cute and i enjoyed seeing the progression of it. From checking each other for misogyny to breaking stereotypes about teen parenthood, the secondary characters in the friend groups truly show how important building community and being supportive is.

If you’re looking for a sweet contemporary or are a fan of The Sun Is Also a Star, you might enjoy Love Radio! He’s been crushing on Dani Ford since middle school, and when they meet again, they don’t leave a good impression. I read this an ARC and everything in the ARC says: get it, share it, request it for your local library.it’s not even super sad, especially when compared to other books i’ve read, but their story was so sweet and i fell in love with both of them🥹 i fell in love with the story and the writing, too, and i did not want to put this book down! I really commend Danielle and Prince for their maturity and the way that they dated and got to know each other.

Additionally, I liked how they learned to support each other and help one another work through their difficulties. Maybe I am just too cynical but both Prince and Danielle seemed pretty stoic and even the extravagant dates they had didn't convince me that they had this blooming affection. There’s growth and trust and stumbling and resets scattered all throughout the development of these two characters (both as individuals and as partners for one another). Throughout the book, the main characters face their own personal struggles, but while these moments are written with the care and the attention they deserve, this isn’t a story of struggle but one of joy. Both of them had a lot going on and different struggles, but their development was done really well and i found myself rooting for both of them!After all, at seventeen, he has his own segment on Detroit’s popular hip-hop show, Love Radio, where he dishes out advice to the brokenhearted. The unique passions of each character and their individual growth throughout the novel is wonderful to witness. Danielle Ford has all but withdrawn from her former social life, deeply intent on securing college scholarships and admission to a university in NYC so she can pursue her dream of becoming an author. I love seeing actual people on the cover, especially when so often books featuring Black characters don’t feature them on the cover.

Just when I say I don't enjoy contemporary young adult books anymore, the reader-verse proves me so wrong. The importance of prioritizing friendship, whether in hard times, good times, or the beginning of a new and exciting romance, is an important topic that LaDelle expertly portrays. Will the self-proclaimed teen love doctor be able to get the girl, or is all his love talk just hot air? When Prince and Dani meet, sparks fly but Dani doesn't want to get distracted- so she gives Prince only three dates to convince her he's worth falling for. Romance is definitely a big part of it but at the heart of it is a really powerful, black coming of age story.

And in the midst of it all is one funny girl, finding her way and forging the path for who she wants to be. Prince Jones may only be in high school, but his status as a DJ giving love advice has elevated him to nearly local celebrity levels. But being the main caretaker for his mother, who has multiple sclerosis, and his little brother means his dreams will stay just that and the only romances in his life are the ones he hears about from his listeners. Also, they both had individual struggles with Dani struggling with what happened at a party on an unfortunate night and Prince having a mother suffering from MS with dad not in the picture.

came up with this plan to make Danielle fall in love with him after 3 dates that she began noticing him as well. From maintaining healthy friendships to letting go of toxic friends, a wide spectrum of friendship is depicted. I loved the idea of a teen “love doctor,” and the way the main characters support each other is so heartwarming.Dani annoyed me at first, but once i got to know why she's so prickly and struggles to let people in, i really sympathised with her. However, while he spends his days talking about love, Prince has yet to experience a happily ever after of his own. Prepare to swoon: LaDelle's Love Radio gives voice to some of the sweetest hopes and the hardest truths. She’s focused on her plan: ace senior year, score a scholarship, and move to New York City to become a famous author. We didn’t see growth from that side friend—just an entire book of him being a douche and a last minute switch during the resolution.
