About this deal

Tequila is a form of mezcal that’s derived from either lowland or highland blue agave plants and produced in specific regions of Mexico, namely Jalisco. Highland agave plants tend to yield a sweeter or fruitier spirit, while lowland agave plants tend to yield earthier flavours. I never follow anything by the book. I live to improvise. I decided on a novel handled beer-mug, instead of the traditional highball glass. I also rimmed my glass with Himalayan pink salt, because I do think the salt enhances a lot of the natural flavours of the tequila. I also used the best quality, freshly squeezed orange juice I could find. I added a touch of grenadine at the end. Using a coa, the jimadoers cut the agave by hand to reveal the heart or piña.Thepiñais gently cooked and then undergoes a step-by-step extraction process with special yeast added to ferment and then twice distilled in copper vessels before maturing.

If Milagro is a little out of your budget, Hornitos Plata Tequila may be better suited for your needs. Flavour isn’t compromised for affordability, with their tequila hitting smooth and strong, with a citrus after taste to boot. Their motto suggests their drink is “A Shot Worth Taking,” which we believe is a great attitude when it comes to tequila. I garnished generously with citrus and mint, but that was more for the striking colour contrasts, rather than for flavour. I wanted to add as little as possible that could interfere with the natural flavours of the tequila. Mineral notes on the nose with a light hints of fruity agave. Heavy on the tongue with an almost metallic minerality with sweeter agave only coming in on the very end.The Sierra distillery is located in a historical hacienda in Guadalajara, the Tequila Capital of Mexico. With years of experience Sierra’s jimadores care for their agave plants by hand, with the plants taking 8 to 10 years to fully mature for harvest. Tequila that is bottled directly after being distilled and harmonised is called Tequila Blanco or Tequila Plata. Internationally, you can also find it under the name Tequila Silver. Prepare a chilled highball glass by coating the rim with lime and chilli salt (rub the rim with a slice of lime to moisten and dip / pour the salt to coat) You may have a hard time getting your hands on a bottle of el Jimador Reposado, thanks to its newfound success and popularity. Winning silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020, everybody is itching to have a taste. If you do manage to get your lips around a glass of the hot stuff, you’ll discover the rich, 100 per cent agave flavours, as well as a toasty after taste from the barrel it was aged in.

To do so, the Jimadores use a very sharp tool called Coa. With the coa, they dig out the agave plant before shaving off the leaves. As a result, the piña (Spanish for pineapple) is revealed and the Jimador is finishing the pina depending on the product being made. For an inexpensive tequila that offers great taste, you can’t go past Jose Cuervo Especial Reposado. The cost of the drink makes it great for parties and event hosting, but don’t think this means you can’t also enjoy a bottle of this fine tequila to yourself. Tasty enough to sip, you’ll find yourself halfway through the bottle in no time. And if you’re into mixing, Jose Cuervo has a line of easy-made margarita’s that’ll hit the spot.

The Sierra Tequila silver from Mexico has won several international awards like in 2014 and 2013 Silver medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition. Conclusion of the Sierra Tequila silver from Mexico: Herradura Reposado is another premium tequila on our list. Herradura is doing all the right things to make sure that their tequila hits the spot for consumers around the world. Aged in American oak barrels for eleven months, the tequila takes on this sweet oak and cinnamon flavour, as well as the natural vanilla notes found in agave. For a twist, you can opt for the Double Barrel Reposado, which is aged for an additional eleven months in a charred barrel for extra flavour.
