About this deal

There are 8 Merge FX pattern presets to choose from (4 if you use Serato DJ Pro) and you can use your own samples. If you’re DJing with rekordbox, you’ll find everything is customizable. Choose from 41 types of effects within the 4 categories that make up a Merge FX (Build FX, Build Sample, Release FX, and Drop Sample) and combine them to create more than 9,000 different patterns. You can save 8 of your own patterns and use the FX Select button on the unit to call them up whenever you want to perform a unique mix.

Pioneer DJ surprised us with the DDJ-FLX6 controller for Rekordbox (here’s our DDJ-FLX6 review). We were expecting the company to launch a “DDJ-600”, to fit in between the two-channel consumer DDJ-400 and the two-channel pro DDJ-800. Instead, we got the DDJ-FLX6. Sure, it has four channels, but it also is clearly aimed at a very different market segment. Unlike the Merge FX, Jog Cutter performs the same on both Serato DJ Pro and Rekordbox DJ. The effect is similar to the Pad Scratch mode found in the Pioneer DDJ-SB3. Although, just as with the Pad Scratch mode, using the effect in performance is challenging and often doesn’t sound great. Sample Scratch Finally, the TRS microphone input with dedicated volume control is found on the rear of the controller. It is worth noting that the microphones audio is not sent to the computer over USB, meaning you won’t hear it in recordings or streams.

In this video, DJ Holland explains how to get started performing your first mix on Algoriddim DJAY. Learn how to stream music and perform your first mix. Although this video doesn’t use a DDJ-FLX6, the application’s basic navigation and managing the library inside DJAY still applies.

It’s the first ever Traktor-compatible controller with full-sized jogwheels and a club layout– the DDJ-FLX6-GT has a club-style mixer layout, and CDJ-sized jogwheels, which mean it feels similar to using club gear (like the ever-popular DDJ-1000 controllers). Traktor owners jealous of users of other software with access to these units now have a unit they can use themselves with these features Noticed that the DDJ-FLX6 has a fresh look? It’s the first Pioneer DJ unit released in a new dark gray matte finish, and its jog wheels have a unique design to complement the aesthetics. Watch the introduction video or find out more about the new DJ controller. It is also undeniably popular, if nothing else for its excellent jogs – plus we do applaud Pioneer’s direction towards making the DDJ-FLX6 work with all software. We look forward to more controllers that “work with everything” moving forward, so how about officially announcing the DDJ-FLX4 for Traktor, Pioneer DJ? Brand new to the FLX6 is the matte dark grey paint and redesigned chassis. The FLX6 features the same sized jog wheels as traditional CDJ units with an inbuilt needle position indicator. Although similar in appearance to the CDJ units, these jog wheels are capacitive rather than mechanical. The inbuilt display doesn’t display advanced information such as the cue points or BPM. The jog wheels are smooth and responsive, feeling light under touch. Sadly there is no tension adjust to change their feel.Prefer for me to show you this? If you’re considering the new DDJ-FLX6-GT, this video details everything you need to know to make the right decision. Before connecting the DDJ FLX6, ensure you have the latest version of Rekordbox installed on your computer, available here . In total, if rekordbox is the selected music software management system then there are eight Merge FX pattern presets (this reduces to four if Serato DJ Pro is in use), and everything is customisable. One Merge FX is made up of four categories Build FX, Build Sample, Release FX and Drop Sample, which include 41 types of effects, all of which can be united to create over 9,000 different patterns. Additionally, there is the option to save eight of the users own patterns, where the FX Select button can be used to recall them when required. New Jog Cutter feature for pro-sounding scratch effects

It’s not a perfect Traktor mapping, or the easiest to get working– It isn’t plug and play with Traktor (you’ll need to install a TSI file to get it to work), and once it is up and working, some of the advanced features of the controller, such as the Merge FX and the in-jog displays, won’t work (plus, we suspect the jogwheel Midi will be laggy, as it always has ben in the past with third party Traktor controllers) BONUS: Existing DDJ-FLX6 users can get all the new functionality too– I thought it was worth adding an eighth “bonus” point for those who own the original DDJ-FLX6, just to make it crystal clear: Aside from the paint job, the hardware hasn’t changed at all, which is great news for existing users, as they can get all the functionality with a simple firmware upgrade Originally codenamed DDJ-600 internally at Pioneer DJ, the Flex - as it’s now known – has been developed to enable complex transitions between genres for DJs whose musical taste, or that of the dancefloor, is fluid. The DDJ-FLX6 has two really powerful features to help DJs jump from one BPM range to another Merge FX and the Jog Cutter. Merge FX The Pioneer DJ DDJ FLX6 is a four-channel controller for those wanting to take their first steps into the world of DJ’ing. Compatible with Rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, Djay and Virtual DJ, the FLX6 is compatible with computers and iOS devices. In this beginners guide, we are going to show you how to set up the DDJ FLX6 on all platforms, to get you mixing as soon as possible! Beginner DJ’s wanting to start on Rekordbox DJ, this controller serves those with larger budgets well. The new effects are great for beginners and automate some of the complicated elements of DJ’ing. Although not very professional, the Merge FX and Jog Cutter modes are great fun to play with. That said, the FLX-6 is a Rekordbox unit first and foremost, as its Serato DJ integration isn’t nearly as tight – there’s no MIDI mapping and less customization over features like Merge FX. I did, however, find the unit to be more responsive with Serato DJ, but that may just be due to the fact that Serato DJ has traditionally optimized as a lighter program designed for turntablists. I/O connectivity The FLX6’s design has compromised some of the units performance features. The controller, although impressive in size still retains small pitch faders. Similar to those found on the DDJ 200 and DDJ 400 units. Pitch bending and scratching feel natural on the DDJ-FLX6-GT thanks to the large jog wheels, which are the same size as those on the flagship CDJ-3000 multi player. Each one features and On Jog Display* too, so you can keep an eye on the playhead position, and the new rubberized finish on the outer ring gives you a much better feeling – especially when pitch bend.
