About this deal

After this EQ, you should be notice many new and 'hidden' details masked even in your familiar music.

The frequency response isn’t the most even, but overall, they have a balanced sound signature with a bit of brightness. Bass has a good punch and control and works great for the majority of genres. For the most part, they are incredibly detailed and have a nice sense of air about them, but I will caution you that it will likely need some EQ. Gaming It has a good sound stage and instrument separation. It has crisp treble and a good bass. Like I said all of these need a bit of equalizing to get the best output. Without a bit of work you may feel a bit of sibilance when you turn up the volume. Ergonomic qualities are of great importance to anyone who’s looking for a home studio headset. While both of these sets are great in this regard, we can’t help but notice that AKG K240 is, objectively, a better choice. Both require EQ for the treble. HD668B is more timbre accurate and natural after EQ than both SR and HD681, especially on acoustic instruments.HD668B scale up a bit better with amplification, while the 681 and SR headphones don't improve as much. Don’t get us wrong, this doesn’t mean that they’ll fall off with regular use. However, these aren’t exactly the headphones you’d recommend to someone who’s headbanging all the time. You wouldn’t want them on you if you’re headbanging or just being very dynamic all the time. Consider them if you’re mostly stationary. Stability: AKG K240 When it comes to treble, let’s just say that these headphones are… wonky. The entire region is exaggerated, making the low-highs sound harsh and the mid-highs piercing. Do you believe the hype? You should do. Every little tweak in the EQ setting of a sound has an effect somewhere. This means a boost in the low can impact how we perceive the highs. The key to it all is finding a balance between your different areas of the mix.

The earcups are rather small though, and it is likely that your ears will press up against the drivers which can be a nuisance. Stability 3.0 There were some minor issues with their portability and long-term durability. But we’re not sure how many headphone models within this price ragne can compare. If you need something for a home studio, but still want to take it to the next level, K240 is the way to go. Price & Value For Money: Bottom Line The great thing about these headphones is that they don’t sound bloated or cheap – something that a lot of entry-level models suffer from. Apparently, Samson SR850 uses some AKG drivers that are usually found in pricier headphones. The result is simply excellent.

Thoughts from Stu’s notepad

Edit: The mic is inconsistent as it doesn't have a dedicated mic. If you intend to use it for gaming purposes, sometimes your teammates won't hear you. As far as in game sound goes, it's excellent. If you play a solo game, it's fine. But for squad games where your teammates need to hear you, it's a hit and miss They’re equipped with a headband that helps make things more comfortable. But on the other hand, that same headband is a bit flimsy in terms of overall stability. Combined with their overall bulkyness, they won’t be very stable. Stability: Bottom Line Recordemos que los Samson son unos Superlux con un chasis ligeramente distinto, dicho ésto paso a comentar en qué se diferencian y porqué los 668b son superiores a los SR850. Validity : Extended Warranty will start after the Brand warranty ends & continues for 1 year/ 2 years as per plan. What's covered : The plan covers all defects & electric malfunctions as covered under the original Brand warranty.

To summarize our findings in this Samson SR850 vs AKG K240 comparison, here are the winners for each category:

Steinheisers sound way better and even the high-end Sony ones, but they cost 10x so yeah for under 5k I guess these are the best ones(and aren't tweaked in any way). There also don't sound dim like the Audio Technica sound products (which I have owned previously). They though are quite good in that you can clearly hear each instrument in the music. If you want the SR850 but need more low end thump and noise cancellation, go for the SR950. Who are the Samson SR850s best suited for?
